The Government Scrappage Programme provides eligible customers with
a £2000 Vauxhall/Government saving when they trade in and scrap their qualifying old
vehicle and purchase a brand new Vauxhall car or commercial vehicle.
The Programme is time-limited and runs from 18.05.09 to 28.02.10, unless the fixed budget
for the Programme runs out sooner. The total funding available from the Government for the
Programme has now been extended and is £400m, available on a first come first served
basis. The Government also announced changes to the qualifying period, which will now
allow cars registered on or before 29 February 2000 (V registration) and vans on or before
28 February 2002 (Y registration or earlier, or new style number plates where the 3rd and
4th digits of the registration number are 51) to qualify under the Scrappage scheme.
The Programme is co-funded with Vauxhall. The Government will pay £1000 towards the cost
of a new vehicle, with Vauxhall paying the remaining £1000 of the Programme Incentive. In
addition to this £2000 total Scrappage saving, Vauxhall is offering a range of other
incentives, which mean that buying a new Vauxhall has never been easier. What's more, your
Vauxhall retailer will handle all of the paperwork for you, including the arrangements for
